Ari H. Gourvitz, Esq. began his legal career at an early age interning for various well known and respected matrimonial attorneys both in high school and college.

Mr. Gourvitz continued his legal career by first interning and then becoming a law clerk for the Honorable Virginia Long (Ret.), Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court.

In that capacity, he aided the Justice in researching, writing and developing some of the most important matrimonial decisions and precedents of today’s Court.

Mr. Gourvitz served while in law school as an extern to the Honorable Michael Diamond, J.S.C. in Passaic County while involved in the Family Law Clinic at Seton Hall Law School.  Mr. Gourvitz then joined the law offices of Elliot H. Gourvitz, Esq. as an associate.

In 2008, he formed Gourvitz & Gourvitz, LLC, and is the managing member of the firm. Mr. Gourvitz has concentrated his entire legal career on divorce and other family law-related matters, but handles other legal matters for existing clients.  


Mr. Gourvitz was admitted to the New Jersey Bar and the United States District Court, District of New Jersey, and Third Circuit Court of Appeals in 2004, and to the New York Bar in 2005. Mr. Gourvitz is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, a member of the Union County Bar Association and a Barrister in the Justice Virginia A. Long Inns of Court. Mr. Gourvitz zealously represents his clients while paying close attention to each client's individual needs.

He has co-authored the first, second, and third editions of the firm’s Domestic Violence Source Book and has been responsible for handling most of the firm’s Federal and State practice helping to establish precedent which is not only shaped but changed and defined existing law.

Because of his various successes in litigation in both Federal and State Courts, he has been recognized by his peers as "Rising Star" as published by "Superlawyers" in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
